![]() Karai first appears in the episode "New Girl in Town" in which she crosses paths with Leonardo. She is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Dogpound and Fishface) of Season 1, a major antagonist-turned-supporting anti-heroine in Season 2, a supporting character in Season 3 (though temporarily became a major antagonist once more, serving as the main antagonist of both "The Deadly Venom" and "The Fourfold Trap"), a major anti-heroine in Season 4, and a supporting character in Season 5. Despite this, it took her a long time to get to accept her family mostly because her desire for revenge consumed her and the fact that none of them except for Splinter and Leo forgave her right away for her actions against them. After she was accidentally dropped into a vat of mutagen that was altered by Baxter Stockman, Karai now has the ability to mutate into a snake/human hybrid at will. ![]() However, after she learned the truth, Karai wanted revenge on the Shredder for deceiving and manipulating her for years. ![]() Since then, Karai wanted revenge on Splinter for the death of her mother. Shredder also lied to her about how that he is her real father and that Yoshi (now known as Splinter) had killed her mother. Since then, she was trained and, unknowingly, adopted by the Shredder. However, unlike most adaptations, Karai is later revealed to be the daughter of Hamato Yoshi, who was taken by the Shredder when she was just a baby. Like other versions of the character, she is the Shredder's disciple, adopted daughter and a high-ranking member of the Foot Clan. She starts of as Leo's archenemy besides Shredder and on/off crush before finding out about the truth of her origin. His first target was Karai, who had “usurped” the Shredder’s name. The destruction of the clammer unleashed a chain of events that resulted in the demon Shredder’s resurrection. Unknown to the Turtles or Agent Bishop who initially charged them with retrieving the artifact, the Heart of Tengu was a mystical artifact that allowed the Foot to control its Elemental Mystics, who were in reality the heralds for a man-demon that had centuries ago terrorized Japan as The Shredder. Despite her efforts, she was unsuccessful in stopping them. Karai next faced the Turtles during their attempt to retrieve a Foot artifact, an amulet called the Heart of Tengu. Chaplin, Karai cried out to Leonardo: "This is not what I wanted!" Good Genes Chaplin are also captured and sent back to Earth and placed in a prison. Despite her efforts, however, in the end, the Shredder was taken prisoner and exiled by the Utroms, while Karai and the young Foot Tech Division Head Dr. When Leonardo refused to let Shredder go, Karai fought alongside with her father and ( unintentionally) accidentally stabbed Leonardo in the shoulder with his own sword, damaging his carapace, although she later prevented the Utrom Shredder from killing the Turtles while they were unconscious.
